Dr. Woo finds it deeply rewarding to help patients who have been told they have “no other options” regain clear, comfortable vision with custom contact lenses. She loves using advanced technologies such as EyePrintProsthetic and sMap 3D scleral topography to solve some of the most complex corneal and ocular surface cases. As the owner of Contact Lens Institute of Nevada – a clinic dedicated entirely to custom contact lenses – she is honored to care for patients with keratoconus, post-surgical complications, graft-versus-host disease, severe dry eye, and other challenging conditions from across the region.
Dr. Stephanie L. Woo graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a degree in Biology Science Education. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from the Southern California College of Optometry. After optometry school, she completed a Cornea and Contact Lens Residency at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, where she received advanced training in fitting highly irregular corneas and managing complex anterior segment conditions.
Dr. Woo owns the Contact Lens Institute of Nevada, a clinic dedicated entirely to custom and specialty contact lenses. The practice offers revolutionary technologies such as the EyePrintProsthetic and sMap 3D corneo‑scleral topography to help manage complex clinical cases. Her clinical focus includes keratoconus, post corneal transplant, refractive surgery complications, severe dry eye disease, Sjogren’s, graft‑versus‑host disease, ocular trauma, corneal scarring, prosthetic contact lenses, and many other challenging conditions.
Dr. Woo is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society, reflecting her commitment to the highest standards of clinical care and education. She is a Past President of the Scleral Lens Education Society, a non‑profit organization dedicated to teaching practitioners the art and science of scleral lenses, and serves as an active advisory board member for the Gas Permeable Lens Institute (GPLI). In addition, she is a key opinion leader for several major contact lens companies, helping to guide innovation in specialty lens design and technology.
Dr. Stephanie L. Woo writes the Gas Permeable Lens Expert column for Review of Contact Lenses and contributes regularly to Contact Lens Spectrum, Review of Cornea and Contact Lenses, Review of Optometry, Review of Optometric Business, the AOA Contact Lens and Cornea Section, and EyeWitness.
Dr. Woo is an adjunct professor at Midwestern University – College of Optometry and lectures internationally on specialty contact lenses and anterior segment disease. She provides continuing education on scleral lenses, irregular corneas, and advanced contact lens technologies for optometrists around the world.
Dr. Woo received the Gas Permeable Lens Institute’s Award for Clinical Excellence and the John R. Griffin Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the Scleral Lens Society and is widely recognized as a key opinion leader for major contact lens companies in specialty lens design and complex fittings.
Outside of clinic and teaching, Dr. Woo is an avid wine enthusiast and collector. She enjoys exploring new regions and styles and has completed her Level 2 WSET Sommelier certification, reflecting her passion for learning and craftsmanship far beyond eye care.
She brings the same curiosity, attention to detail, and appreciation for nuance to both her wine interests and her specialty contact lens work. Whether she is refining a complex scleral lens design or sharing a favorite bottle with friends and family, she values meaningful experiences and connections.
