Dr. Stephanie L. Woo, OD, FAAO, FSLS founded Insight Vision Optometry to give Spring Valley and greater Las Vegas access to the same caliber of specialty contact lens care previously only available at a handful of clinics nationwide. Recognized with top honors in specialty contact lens practice — including awards from the Gas Permeable Lens Institute and Scleral Lens organizations — she has personally managed over 2,000 patients with complex corneal conditions including keratoconus, corneal transplants, and post-surgical complications.
Dr. Woo graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona and earned her Doctor of Optometry with honors from the Southern California College of Optometry. She completed a Cornea and Contact Lens Residency at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, receiving the Gas Permeable Lens Institute Award for Clinical Excellence and the John R. Griffin Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy and Pediatrics.
A Fellow of both the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and the Scleral Lens Education Society (FSLS), Dr. Woo serves as a key opinion leader for major contact lens manufacturers, an Adjunct Professor at Midwestern University College of Optometry, and Past President of the Scleral Lens Education Society. She has authored articles in Contact Lens Spectrum, Review of Optometry, Review of Optometric Business, Review of Cornea and Contact Lenses, and EyeWitness, and lectures internationally on specialty lenses and anterior segment disease.
Dr. Woo also founded Woo University, a non-profit dedicated to advancing specialty lens education for eye care professionals worldwide. For Spring Valley families and patients traveling from across the country, her goal remains the same: deliver life-changing vision when other options have been exhausted.
I love meeting patients who have been told there is nothing more that can be done for their vision and showing them that there actually is. Watching someone with keratoconus or a transplant see clearly and comfortably again with a specialty lens never gets old — it is the most rewarding part of what I do.
Through Woo University, lecturing, and publishing, I share what I have learned about specialty contact lenses with eye care providers around the world. My goal is to make advanced corneal care accessible well beyond our Spring Valley neighborhood so more patients can benefit from life-changing vision solutions.
Outside of clinic and teaching, I love spending time with my family, discovering new restaurants, and traveling to connect with friends and colleagues in eye care. Those experiences keep me inspired and energized for my patients back in Spring Valley.
Dr. Nathan Schramm, OD, FSLS, FBCLA brings a rare combination of advanced scleral lens training, nutrition-focused eye care, and global teaching experience to Spring Valley patients at Insight Vision Optometry. One of only approximately 300 fellowship-trained scleral lens specialists worldwide and among the first optometrists certified as a Nutrition Eye Care Provider, he cares for patients with some of the most challenging corneal conditions, including keratoconus and post-LASIK ectasia.
Dr. Schramm earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2008. He later founded the International Congress of Scleral Contacts, the first conference devoted exclusively to scleral lenses and ocular prosthetics, which has grown into an annual international meeting. He also contributed to a 2019 ophthalmology textbook chapter on scleral lenses and has written for journals such as Advanced Ocular Care, Collaborative Eye, Contact Lens Spectrum, and Natural Awakenings.
An accomplished lecturer, Dr. Schramm has educated thousands of optometrists and ophthalmologists across the United States, China, and India on advanced scleral lens design and the role of nutrition in eye health. Having completed part of his medical training in China, he incorporates an integrative perspective into every exam, combining technology-driven solutions with whole-body wellness principles.

For me, the best moments are when a patient with poor vision puts on a pair of advanced lenses and suddenly sees the world in detail again. Helping children with myopia and adults with irregular corneas reclaim their confidence and independence is exactly why I became an optometrist.
I regularly donate blood and volunteer my time teaching colleagues how to care for patients with irregular astigmatism and complex corneal disease. My long-term goal is to ensure that people who need specialty lenses do not have to travel far or wait years to receive the level of care they deserve.
Earlier in life I worked as a personal trainer, which is why I talk so much about nutrition, exercise, and fasting with my patients. When I am not in the clinic, you will usually find me working out, spending time with my wife Julie and our Husky, Sasha, or enjoying a quiet moment of gratitude for this “B positive” life.
Dr. Thanh Mai, OD, FSLS is the doctor Spring Valley patients turn to when they have been told their corneas are “too complicated” for contact lenses. A Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society, he specializes in custom lens designs for keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, and irregular corneas altered by refractive surgery or transplant. Where others see a difficult case, he sees a blueprint he can refine until the fit — and the vision — are just right.
Dr. Mai graduated summa cum laude from the Southern California College of Optometry and completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA as a Regents Scholar on a full-ride scholarship. Because he is highly nearsighted himself, he has a personal understanding of what it means to rely on vision correction every day. That experience fuels his passion for myopia management, particularly for children in Spring Valley and southwest Las Vegas.
Through orthokeratology and other evidence-based treatments, he works to slow or even halt myopia progression, protecting long-term eye health and expanding what is possible for young patients as they grow. Dr. Mai lectures nationally on specialty contact lenses and modern myopia control strategies, sharing practical insights with colleagues across the country.

I am currently learning golf, which means I spend a fair amount of time trying to stop slicing the ball. I also love board games, creating educational content, and relaxing with my wife and our two children whenever I am away from the clinic.
Dr. Lucy Chen, OD, PhD is a globally recognized dry eye and cornea specialist who brings more than a decade of high-level clinical and research experience to Spring Valley patients at Insight Vision Optometry. As a founding member of the Tear Film Association and Vice President of both the American Natural Academy of Clinical Eye Physicians (ANACEP) and the International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (IAOMC), she is at the forefront of evidence-based care for ocular surface disease.
Dr. Chen obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Houston, graduating with Beta Sigma Kappa honors. She then completed postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine. She has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to 10 medical books, and is the inventor on two patents related to dry eye diagnosis and treatment. Her research has helped shape modern approaches to tear film–oriented diagnosis and therapy.
In addition to her academic work, Dr. Chen has led numerous clinical trials evaluating new therapies for dry eye, meibomian gland dysfunction, and corneal disease. She combines this research background with a compassionate chairside manner, taking time to understand each patient’s symptoms, lifestyle, and goals in order to design a personalized treatment plan.
