Dr. Stephanie L. Woo, OD, FAAO, FSLS is a respected optometrist known for her expertise in specialty contact lenses and advanced corneal care. She is committed to providing exceptional, personalized vision solutions for patients with complex eye conditions, helping to improve clarity, comfort, and quality of life.
Dr. Woo graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a degree in Biology Science Education. She then graduated with honors from the Southern California College of Optometry and completed a Cornea and Contact Lens Residency at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, where she was trained to fit highly irregular corneas. She was the recipient of the Gas Permeable Lens Institute Award for Clinical Excellence and the John R. Griffin Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy.
Dr. Woo is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society (FSLS). Her career has been dedicated to helping patients with complex corneal conditions such as keratoconus, corneal transplants, refractive surgery complications, severe dry eye disease, and ocular surface conditions. She has successfully managed over 2,000 specialty contact lens patients and serves as a key opinion leader for major contact lens companies.
An accomplished educator and author, Dr. Woo has delivered numerous lectures worldwide on specialty contact lenses and anterior segment disease. She has authored articles for professional optometric journals and founded Woo University, a non-profit organization committed to educating eye care professionals.
I love helping patients who have been told they have no other options finally see clearly and comfortably again with specialty contact lenses. It is incredibly rewarding to restore confidence and independence through better vision.
Through Woo University and my lecturing and publishing work, I am dedicated to sharing what I have learned about specialty lenses with other eye care professionals. My goal is to expand access to advanced corneal care so more patients around the world can benefit from life-changing vision solutions.
Outside of clinic and teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring new restaurants, and traveling to connect with colleagues and friends in eye care around the world.
Dr. Nathan Schramm, OD, FAAO, FSLS, FBCLA is passionate about helping patients with complex corneal conditions, including keratoconus and post-LASIK ectasia, as well as preventing and managing myopia. He is one of only approximately 250 fellowship-trained scleral lens specialists worldwide and is among the first optometrists to earn certification as a Nutrition Eye Care Provider. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2008.
An accomplished clinician, educator, writer, and key opinion leader, Dr. Schramm founded the International Congress of Scleral Contacts, the first conference dedicated exclusively to ocular prosthetics and scleral lenses, which has since grown into an annual international event. He contributed to a 2019 ophthalmology textbook chapter on scleral lenses and has authored articles for Advanced Ocular Care, Collaborative Eye, Contact Lens Spectrum, and Natural Awakenings.
Dr. Schramm has lectured to thousands of optometrists and ophthalmologists across the United States, China, and India on advanced scleral lens design and the role of nutrition in eye health. Having completed part of his medical training in China, he incorporates a thoughtful, integrative approach to patient care, combining advanced technology with whole-body wellness principles.
I genuinely love my job because it's a perfect intersection of what the world needs, what I'm good at, and what gives me passion. The best part of my day is fitting a visually impaired patient with advanced lenses and witnessing their awe at how they can now truly see the world. In addition, I take great joy in treating poor vision in children to create a lifelong impact using advanced myopia control techniques.
I donate blood several times yearly (I'm B Positive, like my personality). I became an eye doctor because my grandfather, who raised me like his son, developed an incurable eye disease. I want to continue to educate my eye doctor colleagues on how best to help their patients with irregular astigmatism and complicated corneal conditions.
In my early 20s, I was a personal trainer, so this is one of the reasons why I discuss diet and exercise with my patients. Many people are unaware eye health can be impacted by these things. Another interesting fact is I saved a nun's life and received a congressional commendation. When I'm not fixing eyes, I work out daily with either yoga or high-intensity interval training like CrossFit. Intermittent fasting and extended water-only fasts keep me mentally balanced and appreciative. I love spending time with my wife, Julie, and our Siberian Husky, Sasha.

Because he is highly nearsighted himself, Dr. Mai has a personal passion for myopia management. He understands what it means to rely on vision correction every single day, which fuels his commitment to helping children slow or even stop the progression of myopia. Through orthokeratology and other evidence-based treatments, he works to protect long-term eye health and expand what is possible for young patients.

I love playing board games and spending time with my wife and our two children. Dr. Jaime H. Mendez, OD has built a practice around the cases other offices tend to shy away from: scleral, hybrid, and RGP lenses for eyes that don't fit the standard mold, along with custom contact lenses for keratoconus, cornea and dry eye care, and primary and routine eye exams. He also cares for younger patients through myopia management, including Ortho-K, atropine, Stellest lenses, and MiSight soft contacts.
Optometry never appeared on Dr. Mendez's childhood list of dream careers. At 20, he was content as an assistant manager at an auto parts store, until a friend who worked at an optometry office needed an extra set of hands and kept insisting he come take a look. That single, low-stakes favor rearranged the rest of his life. He walked in wearing no glasses and carrying no real opinions about optometry, and walked out captivated by how intricate and quietly remarkable the eye is. A job as an optometric technician followed, and casual curiosity soon revealed itself as something closer to a calling.
Dr. Mendez earned his Bachelor of Science in Basic Medical Sciences from Washington State University, then completed his Doctor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry. He holds a Nevada state certification permitting him to co-manage primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), a credential the state requires on top of standard licensure.
As Clinical Director of Insight Vision Optometry in Las Vegas, he oversees clinical standards across the practice's specialty contact lens and myopia management services, bringing the same precision to how the practice runs that he brings to how each patient is seen.
It isn't the technology or the titles. It's the patients who arrive after years of specialty lenses that never quite fit right, who've grown resigned to distorted vision or discomfort they assumed was permanent. Walking them through the fitting process and watching their world sharpen back into focus never gets old. I consider it one of the true privileges of this profession, a front-row seat to someone getting their clarity, and often their confidence, back.
I've built my practice around the cases other offices tend to pass on, and I'd like Las Vegas to be a place where nobody has to travel out of state for that kind of care. As Clinical Director, part of my job is holding the standard for how we fit specialty lenses and manage myopia in kids, so the level of care doesn't depend on which chair you land in. Earning my Nevada certification to co-manage primary open-angle glaucoma was part of that too, keeping more of a patient's care under one roof.
Away from the exam chair, I'm a family man first. Time with my wife and our two young daughters sits at the center of everything else, whether that's chasing them around a park or savoring an unhurried Saturday morning. I'm an unapologetic sports fan who'll happily play, watch, or otherwise find a reason to move, and at home I'm most at ease with a tool in hand, tackling carpentry and home-improvement projects or out in the yard tending fruit trees. I'm also close with my three older sisters, who I credit with a good deal of my patience. Fair warning: I've never once let a good pun swim by unused. My favorite spot in town is La Mojarra Loca, a Mexican seafood place with some of the best "see food" in Las Vegas.
