Dr. Stephanie L. Woo, OD, FAAO, FSLS is a respected optometrist known for her expertise in specialty contact lenses and advanced corneal care. She is committed to providing exceptional, personalized vision solutions for patients with complex eye conditions, helping to improve clarity, comfort, and quality of life.
Dr. Woo graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a degree in Biology Science Education. She then graduated with honors from the Southern California College of Optometry and completed a Cornea and Contact Lens Residency at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, where she was trained to fit highly irregular corneas. She was the recipient of the Gas Permeable Lens Institute Award for Clinical Excellence and the John R. Griffin Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy.
Dr. Woo is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society (FSLS). Her career has been dedicated to helping patients with complex corneal conditions such as keratoconus, corneal transplants, refractive surgery complications, severe dry eye disease, and ocular surface conditions. She has successfully managed over 2,000 specialty contact lens patients and serves as a key opinion leader for major contact lens companies.
An accomplished educator and author, Dr. Woo has delivered numerous lectures worldwide on specialty contact lenses and anterior segment disease. She has authored articles for professional optometric journals and founded Woo University, a non-profit organization committed to educating eye care professionals.
I love helping patients who have been told they have no other options finally see clearly and comfortably again with specialty contact lenses. It is incredibly rewarding to restore confidence and independence through better vision.
Through Woo University and my lecturing and publishing work, I am dedicated to sharing what I have learned about specialty lenses with other eye care professionals. My goal is to expand access to advanced corneal care so more patients around the world can benefit from life-changing vision solutions.
Outside of clinic and teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring new restaurants, and traveling to connect with colleagues and friends in eye care around the world.
Dr. Nathan Schramm, OD, FSLS, FBCLA is passionate about helping patients with complex corneal conditions, including keratoconus and post-LASIK ectasia, as well as preventing and managing myopia. He is one of only approximately 250 fellowship-trained scleral lens specialists worldwide and is among the first optometrists to earn certification as a Nutrition Eye Care Provider. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2008.
An accomplished clinician, educator, writer, and key opinion leader, Dr. Schramm founded the International Congress of Scleral Contacts, the first conference dedicated exclusively to ocular prosthetics and scleral lenses, which has since grown into an annual international event. He contributed to a 2019 ophthalmology textbook chapter on scleral lenses and has authored articles for Advanced Ocular Care, Collaborative Eye, Contact Lens Spectrum, and Natural Awakenings.
Dr. Schramm has lectured to thousands of optometrists and ophthalmologists across the United States, China, and India on advanced scleral lens design and the role of nutrition in eye health. Having completed part of his medical training in China, he incorporates a thoughtful, integrative approach to patient care, combining advanced technology with whole-body wellness principles.
I genuinely love my job because it's a perfect intersection of what the world needs, what I'm good at, and what gives me passion. The best part of my day is fitting a visually impaired patient with advanced lenses and witnessing their awe at how they can now truly see the world. In addition, I take great joy in treating poor vision in children to create a lifelong impact using advanced myopia control techniques.
I donate blood several times yearly (I'm B Positive, like my personality). I became an eye doctor because my grandfather, who raised me like his son, developed an incurable eye disease. I want to continue to educate my eye doctor colleagues on how best to help their patients with irregular astigmatism and complicated corneal conditions.
In my early 20s, I was a personal trainer, so this is one of the reasons why I discuss diet and exercise with my patients. Many people are unaware eye health can be impacted by these things. Another interesting fact is I saved a nun's life and received a congressional commendation. When I'm not fixing eyes, I work out daily with either yoga or high-intensity interval training like CrossFit. Intermittent fasting and extended water-only fasts keep me mentally balanced and appreciative. I love spending time with my wife, Julie, and our Siberian Husky, Sasha.
If you need a contact lens to fit just right so you can truly see your best, there are few people on this green earth better to have in your corner than Dr. Thanh Mai, OD, FSLS.
Dr. Mai specializes in advanced, custom contact lenses for patients with complex corneal conditions, including keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, and corneas altered by refractive surgery or transplants. As a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society, he brings a high level of expertise to cases that require precision, creativity, and persistence. When others see a challenging cornea, he sees a blueprint.
Because he is highly nearsighted himself, Dr. Mai has a personal passion for myopia management. He understands what it means to rely on vision correction every single day, which fuels his commitment to helping children slow or even stop the progression of myopia. Through orthokeratology and other evidence-based treatments, he works to protect long-term eye health and expand what is possible for young patients.
Dr. Mai lectures nationally, teaching other doctors about specialty contact lenses and modern myopia control strategies. He also has a growing passion for patient education beyond the exam room, with a goal of translating complex eye conditions into clear, practical guidance that empowers patients to understand their vision and make confident decisions about their eye health. He sees patients at Insight Vision Optometry in Las Vegas, providing advanced care for both local residents and those who travel for specialty contact lens expertise.
Being an optometrist is great! If you have a son or daughter interested in healthcare, I wholeheartedly recommend optometry and welcome them to shadow us at the office or chat over lunch. The best part of my job is solving vision problems that can truly transform people's lives, especially for patients with keratoconus or past surgical complications. Money can't buy the feeling you get when you improve someone's vision and quality of life.
I enjoy mentoring future optometrists and sharing clinical pearls with colleagues across the country. Teaching other doctors how to approach complex corneas and myopia management allows me to make a difference far beyond a single exam room. Here in Las Vegas, my goal is to help build a destination for advanced specialty contact lens care so patients don't have to leave the region to get world-class solutions.
I recently started learning golf, and it's a tough sport to master — you'll often find me out there trying to stop slicing the ball. I love playing board games and spending time with my wife and our two children. When I'm not in clinic, I also enjoy creating educational content and dreaming up new ways to explain complex eye topics in simple, relatable language.
Dr. Lucy Chen, OD, PhD is a clinical researcher and optometrist with a rare blend of deep academic expertise and hands-on patient care experience. She has devoted her career to advancing treatments for anterior ocular disease, dry eye, myopia, and corneal cross-linking through both clinical practice and high-level research.
Dr. Chen graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2010 as Doctor of Optometry (BSK honor). She also holds a PhD from the University of Alcalá de Henares in Spain, awarded "Sobresaliente cum laude," and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Before her time in Spain, she earned both a medical degree and a Master of Science in China.
She has authored more than 60 publications in leading vision science journals, holds 2 patents, and has written 10 medical books. Dr. Chen has successfully founded multiple private eye care clinics across the world and has served as a medical director in industry, leading eye product research and development. She has also participated as principal investigator in several FDA clinical trials for devices and drugs, including myopia control and anterior ocular diseases such as dry eye, corneal cross-linking, and ocular surface inflammation.
At Insight Vision Optometry, Dr. Chen sees patients in the Las Vegas and Spring Valley area, where she focuses on applying evidence-based strategies to dry eye, myopia control, and complex anterior segment conditions. She is active in professional societies as a founding member of the Tear Film Association and current board member and VP of ANACEP and IAOI.
I love the intersection of clinical care and research. Being able to apply cutting-edge findings directly to patient care and seeing the real-world impact of clinical trials on vision health is deeply fulfilling. Every patient interaction at our Las Vegas clinic reminds me why I pursued this path and how important it is to keep pushing our field forward.
I have been deeply involved in advancing eye care through clinical research, FDA trials, and international professional organizations. My hope is to continue bridging the gap between research and day-to-day clinical practice so patients here in Las Vegas and Spring Valley can benefit from the same innovations being studied in major research centers. By seeing patients in clinic and following their progress over time, I can refine protocols and help develop safer, more effective treatments for dry eye, myopia, and other anterior segment diseases.
When I am not seeing patients or reviewing research data, I enjoy exploring new places and cuisines, spending time with my family, and connecting with colleagues around the world through professional conferences and collaborations. Those relationships keep me energized and constantly thinking about what is next for our patients.
